NetGalley’s historical romance readers have been eagerly waiting for news on Eva Leigh’s A Rogue’s Rules for Seduction, the third and final book in the Last Chance Scoundrels series. Earlier today Leigh revealed the steamy cover, and it’s already set our hearts aflame. Here we’re taking a closer look at the cover and chatting with Leigh about its design and what readers can expect from Dom and Willa’s story.

Take a look at the cover we’ve all been waiting for:

Now, let’s go behind the scenes with Leigh to talk about the design.

Tell us about your book cover! What was the cover design process like for you? What goes into creating covers in a romance series where each needs to be distinct yet collectively match?

I was able to suggest poses and scenes to the art department and was given a selection of models’ portfolios to determine who would be Dom and Willa. We wanted to make sure that the covers were different from each other, yet also had a unifying aesthetic. In all three covers, the relationship between the two main characters had to be emphasized, and I especially love the dynamic between Dom and Willa as represented in the cover. The model who’s portraying Dom did an amazing job showing how much this man is absolutely devoted to Willa. I made sure that my editor let the model know because he was incredible.

Cover design is constantly changing and evolving. Is there a current trend in covers that you enjoy? What do you think is the secret to a good book cover?

Honestly, I’m loving the direction of my Avon covers that are a hybrid between photos and illustration, and show the main characters in a poignant and passionate moment. I’m always happy when the cover matches the tone of the book so that reader expectations are met.

Dom and Willa’s story is set up in the very first chapter in the first book of the Last Chance Scoundrels series (The Good Girl’s Guide to Rakes). What inspired you to open and end the series with them?

Dom and Willa’s story is the inciting incident that starts the whole series. If Dom didn’t jilt Willa, then his father and the Ransome brothers’ families wouldn’t have reached their breaking point with the guys’ shenanigans, and there wouldn’t be an ultimatum to find respectable brides within a year. So, it made sense that the event that started the series is also the event that has repercussions all the way to the end. Also, I hoped that readers would be so intrigued by this fiery couple, that they’d want to read every book to see just what happens with them!

In three words, what can readers expect from A Rogue’s Rules for Seduction?

Second chance sexiness.

What books do you recommend we pick up while we wait for A Rogue’s Rules for Seduction to hit shelves on April 25, 2023?

Speaking of incredible covers, have you seen the cover for Aphrodite and the Duke? Phenomenal. It’s a Regency romance by J.J. McAvoy, and the book is just as gorgeous as the cover!  It goes on sale August 23.
