Radiant Sin by Katee Robert
Katee Robert returns to the Dark Olympus series with a scorching romance between Apollo and Cassandra. All Cassandra Gataki wants is to be allowed to leave Olympus behind once and for all. When Apollo, the city’s official spymaster, asks her for a favor she sees her one opportunity to escape. Wicked Beauty was one of our team’s favorite books of 2022, so we won’t be missing this new installment!
Meru by S.B. Divya
Sci-fi fans eager to explore new worlds will want to put the first book in S.B. Divya’s Alloy Era series at the top of their TBR. This space opera kicks off with the discovery of Meru, an Earth analog. For centuries, humans have been confined to Earth and guarded over by alloys, post-human descendants. Jayanthi, a human adopted by two alloy parents, sets out for Meru to show that humankind is ready to explore the universe once again.
Always the Almost by Edward Underhill
Miles Jacobson, a 16-year-old trans pianist, struggles to keep his New Year’s resolutions in this young adult novel. All Miles wants is to win back his ex Shane and best his piano nemesis at an upcoming classical competition. Unfortunately, Shane won’t speak to him and his piano teacher says he isn’t playing like himself. When he meets Eric, a queer cartoonist, it makes Miles reconsider what it might be like to have someone like him for exactly who he is.
Night Angels by Weina Dai Randel
Weina Dai Randel’s latest work of historical fiction draws inspiration from true events to tell the story of Dr. Ho Fengshan and his wife Grace. Set in 1938, the book picks up with the two settling into Vienna. Grace struggles to connect with other diplomats’ wives and instead forms a friendship with Lola, her Jewish tutor. As violence begins to escalate, Grace and Dr. Ho realize he can save Lola’s family and more if he issues them visas to Shanghai.
Stone Cold Fox by Rachel Koller Croft
Bea is ready to pull one final con. She’s spent years as her mother’s swindling partner and is ready to leave that life behind to settle down. Only someone of obscene wealth is worthy enough and Bea has her target locked on Collin Case. The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill
Fans of retellings will want to clear their schedule near the end of the month for Kelly Barnhill’s contemporary reimagining of “The Crane Wife.” The story follows an unnamed 15-year-old who works to raise her younger brother and keep the family finances straight while her mother focuses on her art. When her mom suddenly brings home a crane, the girl cannot stop her mother from dropping everything to weave a tapestry ordered by the crane.
The Wicked Bargain by Gabe Cole Novoa
End your reading month with a high-seas adventure! Gabe Cole Novoa’s YA novel is a Latinx fantasy featuring a transmasculine nonbinary pirate named Mar who is offered a deal with el Diablo. When their father is kidnapped, Mar can choose to forfeit their own soul to save him or never see him again. Instead, Mar finds help from an unlikely source and learns to tap into the magic ability they’ve long hidden. Soon a plan is forming to take down el Diablo and save Mar’s father.
