Let’s talk about reissues, readers. For NetGalley members unfamiliar with this term, the simplest definition is that a reissue is a rerelease of a book, though they take a variety of different forms. Some reissues simply receive a new cover or title, others add bonus material, and some were previously published by the author or a different publisher. Many times they’re tied to an anniversary or they’re backlist titles of an author who has gained new readers.

Reissues are exciting because they’re an opportunity for existing readers to see a book they love in a new light and they offer new readers a chance to experience the book for the first time. Here we’ve rounded up 18 reissues hitting shelves in 2023 for your (re)reading pleasure. Some are even available to request on NetGalley!

Take the Lead by Alexis Daria

A must-read for fans of Dancing with the Stars, this first book in the Dance Off series follows Gina Morales, one of the professional dancers in a reality TV celebrity dance competition, and her partner for the season, Stone Nielson, the star of an Alaskan wilderness show. Their sizzling chemistry and Daria’s engaging writing make this a win for romance readers. Previously published as an e-original, the reissue of Take the Lead includes a stunning new cover, revised text, and bonus material! The paperback and ebook are available now, while audiophiles will be happy to know the audiobook is coming in March.

City of Bones by Martha Wells

Tordotcom Publishing recently acquired six of Martha Wells’ backlist books, all of which will be revised by the author and reissued. The first to hit shelves this September is City of Bones. This fantasy adventure follows Khat and Sagai, two relic dealers tasked with finding technology that belonged to the Ancients. Along the way, they end up going head-to-head against a cult that could destroy their home. If you need your Wells fantasy fix sooner, you only have to wait until spring.
