No Place to Bury the Dead by Karina Sainz Borgo

Winner of the 2023 Jan Michalski Prize, this novel about grief and resilience brings readers to an unnamed Latin American country as a strange plague is spreading and stealing the memories of all who are infected. Angustias manages to escape to the town of Mezquite, but not before losing both of her children. She lays them to rest in a cemetery, only to learn that it’s the site of a land dispute and that she’ll need to stand strong to protect the place where her children now rest.

The Case of the Missing Maid by Rob Osler

Take a trip to 1898 Chicago to meet Harriet Morrow, the Prescott Agency’s first female detective. Her first case is to find Agnes Wozniak, a maid who went missing from Pearl Bartlett’s mansion. A lot is riding on this case: Harriet has to prove herself against male colleagues just waiting for her to slip up and she fears if she doesn’t find Agnes soon that something terrible could happen to her.

A Tempest of Desire by Lorraine Heath

But his solitude comes to a quick close when Marlowe, London’s most infamous courtesan, washes up on the shores of his beach.

The Shutouts by Gabrielle Korn

Gabrielle Korn weaves together the lives of seemingly unconnected characters in this dystopian tale of climate collapse. The book alternates between two plotlines: One in 2041, where activist Kelly is on the road braving storms and wildfires to connect with the daughter she abandoned seven years earlier, and another in 2078, where Orchid is traveling to New York City in search of her ex, who had been invited into a climate-controlled tunnel.

Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao

The highly-anticipated sequel to Iron Widow is almost here! New readers start this series (a YA sci-fi retelling of the rise of the only female emperor in Chinese history) at the beginning and existing fans get ready to return to Huaxia. When an enemy kidnaps someone Zetian loves, it forces her to make impossible decisions—including forming an uneasy alliance with a man she can’t trust but needs to take down their shared rival.

When Addison starts to receive threatening notes, she fears whoever took out Richard might come for her next.

Only for the Week by Natasha Bishop

But the calm is shattered when rival Wolf king Nero infiltrates their midsts and kidnaps a friend of Queen Calla’s. To take down Nero’s pack, Calla attempts to form an alliance with the Taigos court and sends royal guard Sadie on a mission to learn everything she can about Nero.

Ex Marks the Spot by Gloria Chao

Gloria Chao transports readers to Taiwan in this new YA novel.
