Cash Delgado Is Living the Dream by Tehlor Kay Mejia

Tehlor Kay Mejia’s newest romance is a queer friends-to-lovers story set in a small town. Cash Delgado’s nice and quiet life is turned upside down when the former manager of the bar she works at returns. Suddenly all of the dreams she had for Joyce’s Bar feel as though they’re slipping through her fingers. She wants to rely on her best friend Inez for support, but that’s becoming increasingly difficult considering the intimate dreams she’s been having about the two of them.

I Was A Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones

Stephen Graham Jones channels 1980s slasher movies in this novel told from the perspective of a killer writing his own autobiography. Tolly wasn’t always driven by an urge to kill. He lived a fairly normal life in Lamesa, Texas, but one night in 1989 at a high school party, he’s infected with the blood of an undead classmate. Just like that, Tolly is masking up and going on a slashing spree.

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst

Look no further for your next cozy fantasy read, Sarah Beth Durst has you covered. After a fire destroys the library she works at, Kiela returns to her childhood home on a remote island. The house needs some fixing up and Kiela needs a new job. Thankfully, she stumbles across a recipe book that (with the help of some illegal magic) can help her grow berries to make jam. Along the way, she finds herself connecting with the people in town more than she ever did in the city.

Such Charming Liars by Karen M. McManus

Karen M. McManus’ latest young adult mystery features a jewel heist gone terribly wrong. Kat’s mother Jamie is a grifter determined to pull off one last con at a billionaire’s birthday party and Kat’s along for the ride. But once they arrive, they’re met with a series of unexpected surprises: Among the guests are Jamie’s ex-husband, who has a scam of his own planned, and his son Liam. But things really take a turn when a dead body is found.

The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali

Marjan Kamali transports readers to 1950s Tehran to chronicle the bond two young girls form and how it shapes the rest of their lives. Only One Survives by Hannah Mary McKinnon

Toward Eternity by Anton Hur

This near-future speculative novel explores the meaning of humanity as technology begins to alter what it means to live. The story centers around literary researcher Yonghun, a recipient of the new cancer-eradicating nanotherapy whose recent disappearance and reappearance is causing a stir; Panit, a living machine Yonghun created; and Dr. Beeko, the scientist behind nanotherapy who uploads Panit’s consciousness into a robotic body. Readers who enjoy thought-provoking books about the cost of progress and the meaning of life will find a lot to consider here.

Portrait of a Shadow by Meriam Metoui

YA readers looking for some thrills and chills this summer should add this horror book to their to-read list. Everyone but Mae seems to be moving on from her sister Inez’s disappearance. When she’s tasked with clearing out Inez’s studio apartment, she stumbles across a strange painting and soon becomes convinced that it must be connected to her missing sister. As Mae begins to search for more clues, she stumbles across secrets connected to a centuries-old mystery.
