Otherworldly by Dwain Worrell

Dwain Worrell explores themes of addiction and isolation in this thrilling sci-fi book. Cleo Xavier and her crew are journeying to the distant planet of Orbis Alius to see if it can one day sustain human life. Cleo can’t shake the ominous feeling the planet gives her when they arrive, and things only grow worse as her crew members begin to disappear one by one.

The Isle in the Silver Sea by Tasha Suri

Tasha Suri returns this fall with a standalone novel that romantasy fans will want on their TBR. Simran and Vina’s fates are written in stone before they even meet. They are reincarnations of the witch and knight, who are always destined for a doomed love story. Though they fight their feelings at first, the two soon decide to try breaking the cycle—all while evading a mysterious assassin who is on their trail.

Hole in the Sky by Daniel H. Wilson

Looking for Indigenous sci-fi? Daniel H. Wilson has you covered in this novel, which also draws on his own experiences as a threat forecaster. An atmospheric disturbance is felt by a father living at the heart of the Cherokee Nation. At the same time, NASA realizes that something massive is headed towards Earth, and a reclusive threat forecaster sends an urgent message to the president—a warning that alien contact is coming.

A Mastery of Monsters by Liselle Sambury

YA readers hunting for their next fantasy can look out for this one about a deadly competition and a hidden society hitting shelves soon. August is searching for her missing brother, and the only person who can help her is Virgil, who she learns is a part of a secret society of monsters. As it turns out, Virgil needs her assistance as well. The two strike a deal: August will help Virgil learn to control his inner beast (lest he transform into one forever), and he will help her hunt for her brother.

Sunward by William Alexander

As a planetary courier, Captain Tova Lir journeys across the stars to deliver messages. It’s a wildly different life than her family (who wanted her to go into politics) had planned, but she enjoys it, especially now that she’s mentoring baby bots. Everything takes a turn, however, when a delivery mission leads her to cross paths with an assassin and kicks off a chase around the universe.

House of the Beast by Michelle Wong

A young woman makes a Faustian bargain in this dark fantasy. Alma is the bastard daughter of the House of Avera, a noble family that serves a terrible god known as the Dread Beast. When her mother falls ill, Alma sacrifices her left arm to the Beast to save her and is devastated when her mother passes anyway. Driven by rage and vengeance, Alma vows to destroy the House and everything it stands for.

Zomromcom by Olivia Dade

Readers craving romance, comedy, and paranormal adventure won’t want to miss out on Olivia Dade’s latest. Edie is living in relative safety after the zombie apocalypse. But when the undead hordes escape containment, she races to save her reclusive neighbor. Turns out, Gaston didn’t need saving—he’s an ancient vampire armed with a sword and a fierce desire to see Edie protected. While Gaston would prefer to wait out the disaster together in his bunker, Edie decides it’s up to them to rescue as many other innocents as possible.

When They Burned the Butterfly by Wen-yi Lee

Wen-yi Lee transports readers to 1972 Singapore, where a girl’s quest for her mother’s killer leads her to a neighborhood gang and their fire goddess. Adeline doesn’t realize until after her mother’s death that she was Madam Butterfly, the leader of a local gang of girls who seek revenge against the men who have hurt them. Believing that her mother was murdered, Adeline joins the group and enters the dark underbelly of their city, with only her fire powers to protect her.

Sky on Fire by E.K. Johnston

This young adult novel blends sci-fi and fantasy to create an Arthurian adventure that fans of both genres will adore. Morgan Enni’s lack of magical ability has always driven her to prove that she’s as capable as the mage-scientists at her university. Unfortunately, that hasn’t translated to backing for her research. So when a group of rebels shows an interest in her work—and its ability to take down the Stavenger Empire—she’s presented with a choice that will change her life forever.
